SY Sport has approved Quest Taekwondo - Penistone's Sportivate funding application
Quest Taekwondo - Penistone is pleased to report that our recent Sportivate application to South Yorkshire Sport has been successful, and that our project will now form part of the South Yorkshire Sportivate Year 3 Delivery Plan.
The funds will allow us to purchase new Kick Pads and run additional sessions separate from the full classes which can be seen as a little daunting to some groups. Commencing in October, sessions will be for 1 hour duration at Penistone Grammar School ALC Sports Centre. The eight-week course will provide a high standard of preparation for the candidate to progress into regular Taekwondo lessons, and will include warm up and stretch to improve fitness and flexibility. The team at Quest Taekwondo deliver a variety of specialist classes, which will ensure a continued development pathway for the members.
Sportivate is a £56 million Lottery funded London 2012 legacy project that gives more young people the chance to discover a sport that they love by access to six weeks' of free or subsidised coaching in a range of sports.
During the six weeks those taking part can work towards an event or personal challenge and when the free or low-cost coaching has finished they will be supported to continue playing sport.
It is Quest's goal to introduce Taekwondo to local young people and provide the opportunity for them discover a sport that they love. Our programme could provide the first step in a young person's life-long participation in sport and the life-long benefits that can be achieved through regular physical activity.
