Quest Taekwondo hosted a seminar with GB Taekwondo athlete, Damon Sansum

On Saturday 25th of April Quest Taekwondo hosted a seminar by GB Taekwondo athlete, Damon Sansum.  Members of Quest Taekwondo, plus guests from other clubs, were treated to 3 hours of training and competition tips, strategies and techniques.

After a fun and effective warm-up, Damon went straight into training techniques.  It was clear from the start that this Taekwondo athlete put much thought into each and every training and competitive technique, and his knowledge was shared to a very eager bunch of athletes from age 6 to ... well much older!  He clearly demonstrated each exercise, explaining how to perform it correctly and why it was important/how it could be used in practice.

These techniques were then practised by a hall full of enthusiastic Taekwondo students and, with Damon’s continued support throughout, it was evident to anyone observing that huge leaps in technique execution were made in a relatively short space of time.  What was particularly evident was that Damon was able to grab and keep the students attention, giving input to every single student in the hall and assisting them to master each technique.

Yet again, we were all privileged to experience another dynamic and inspiring seminar, delivered by a 2016 Olympic hopeful to our young Taekwondo athletes of the future.  And Quest Taekwondo’s Chief Instructor, Mike McKenzie, was equally impressed in his statement after the event:

"I first saw Damon Sansum as a Fighting Chance athlete. Like many others I had a lot of doubt about the viability of the programme. I have seen his game mature, using his initial strengths to good advantage but then intelligently developing an all round game based on intelligence, skill and tenacity.

The seminar he gave yesterday was not only educational but entertaining and inspiring - everything we strive for at Quest Taekwondo.  I am not easily impressed but I was yesterday."
